Retirement Looms for Lil' Evil?

Retirement Looms for Lil’ Evil

Jens Pulver suffered a submission loss in the first round of his fight with Javier Vasquez at WEC 47. This was an all to familiar scene for Lil Evil as he has dropped his last five fights in the organization. Jens addressed the crowd post fight and with tears in his eyes told the fans “ I love you all too much to make you go through this again”, implying that his career has come to an end. MMA fandom may have seen the last fight of one of the true legends. Jens has done it all in the sport, whining a championship in the UFC coaching on the Ultimate Fighter, fighting in Pride, etc. But the crowd at WEC 47 gave Jens a standing ovation for more than just his accomplishments in the sport. Jens was applauded for his courage, his honesty, for his struggles and the way he overcame them. He was applauded for the way he treats the fans and other fighters. He was cheered because he has been an inspiration to so many. Watching at home I clapped for Jens too. There are a lot of great fighters, but there is only one Lil’ Evil.
